The pre-prepared substation, designated R-AC-PHS-BU, where BU indicates the use of a Noark Ex9B circuit breaker and a Noark Ex9UE surge arrestor, provides overcurrent and overvoltage protection at the input to the three-phase PV plant. The installation is made with a B16/3 circuit breaker and a Class 1+2, 12.5 kA (10/350 μs) surge arrester, which provides protection against the effects of indirect lightning strikes or direct low-intensity strikes.

The substation used is IP65 rated, so it is also suitable for outdoor environments. Since the same switchboard is also used for DC switchboards, it can be combined with these switchboards.
